Recording Fees and Taxes Required
Florida law requires the Clerk and Comptroller to collect fees for services rendered in recording documents and instruments, and in performing other specified duties (F.S. 28.24).
Recording Fees
The statutory fees to record a document in the Official Records are based on the number of pages, the number of names on the document, and the type of document.

State Documentary Stamp and Intangible Taxes
Certain documents that pertain to real estate transactions are subject to a state documentary stamp tax fee. Documents that serve as a written obligation to pay money are subject to payment of intangible taxes. The proper amount of state documentary stamp taxes and intangible taxes must be paid and affixed to the instrument at the time of recording.
Qualifying exemptions, due to state or federal law, should be evident on the face of the document.

Deed Documentary Stamp Tax
Deed documentary stamp taxes (a.k.a. deed doc stamps) are due on documents that convey property and are calculated on the amount of consideration (sale price). Questions about the amount of deed doc stamps due on a conveyance should be directed to the Florida Department of Revenue.
