Recording Services

The Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller serves as the County Recorder, responsible for indexing and archiving all documents that create the Official Records of Sarasota County. Collectively, this is known as Recording Services.

Recordable Documents (Instruments)

Upon payment of statutory fees, the Clerk and Comptroller has oversight of a variety of recordable documents (known as “instruments”), including:

  • Deeds, leases, mortgages, claims of lien
  • Agreements, judgments, notices, affidavits, satisfactions
  • Certificates of discharge from military service
  • Any other instrument required or authorized to be recorded by law
