Notification of License Suspension

Why did I receive a notification of suspension of my driver’s license?

There are many reasons a license may be suspended other than a traffic ticket. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) provides information on reasons a driver’s license may be suspended and what happens after you receive a Notification of Suspension.

If you hold a Florida driver’s license that has been suspended due to a Sarasota County traffic ticket: Upon resolution of your ticket, the Clerk’s Office will submit your clearance electronically to the DHSMV.

If you hold an out-of-state driver’s license that has been suspended due to a Sarasota County traffic ticket: Upon resolution of your ticket, a clearance letter, which must be submitted to your licensing state, will be provided to you. You must provide the Sarasota Clerk’s Office with your current mailing address to receive the clearance letter by mail.

Will I owe additional fees if I meet the court’s requirements before the suspension date listed on the Order of Suspension?

If you satisfy the court’s requirements before the suspension date printed on your Order of Suspension, you will not be required to pay any additional fees to the DHSMV to reinstate your license.

If you satisfy the court’s requirements on or after the suspension date printed on your Order of Suspension, you will be required to pay a $60.00 fee to reinstate your driver’s license.
