Passport Fees
General Information
The fees you pay for a passport typically depend on:
- your age
- choice of a passport book, passport card, or both documents
- how quickly you need to receive the passport
Passport fees are calculated per person; payments are made separately to:
- The Sarasota Clerk and Comptroller (Passport Application Acceptance Facility)
—AND—
- The U.S. Department of State (Passport Application Processing and Issuance)
Passport Fees Paid Directly to the Clerk of Court
- Fee for each passport application, for all types of passports: $35.00
- Passport photo fee: $16.05 - for each photo
- Expedited Passport Processing Fee (optional): $21.50

Passport RENEWAL Fees for an Adult (age 16 +)
Adults age 16 or older who are eligible to renew their passport can do so by mail or online.
If you are not eligible for renewal, you must follow instructions to Apply for an Adult Passport.

Passport Fees for a Child (under age 16)
All children must apply in person. Follow instructions for applying for a passport for Children Under 16.
Rush My Passport! Expedited Processing Fees
To get your passport faster, you pay additional fees along with your total passport application fee amount. The U.S. State Department and the Clerk’s Office do not refund passport applications fees.
Check Passport Processing Times to decide if you need expedite service and the added expense.
If you request an expedited passport, but you do not receive expedited service you may request a refund for the expediting fee—no other portion of the passport application fee can be refunded.

- You will receive your new passport 1-3 days after we mail it.
- Do no submit a pre-paid return envelope to us.
- We do not offer this service if you are applying for a passport card only. We only send cards via USPS First Class Mail.

What forms of payment for passport fees does the Sarasota County Clerk and Comptroller for accept?
- Cash, Credit Card, Check, Money Order
- Credit card payments have a 3.5% processing fee
What forms of payment for passport fees does the U.S. Department of State accept?
- Check, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order (not cash)
- The applicant's name and date of birth must be on the front of the check
