Traffic Ticket Payment FAQs

Be sure to pay your traffic ticket fines and fees on time to avoid extra penalties.

If you are facing financial hardship, you can request a payment plan(PDF, 327KB) to avoid your case being transferred to a collection agency.

 

How do I pay a traffic ticket?

Traffic Fines & Fee Schedule

  • Pay Online - Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express
  • Pay In person - cash, personal or cashier's check, money order, credit or debit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
  • Pay phone - credit or debit card: 941-861-7400
    • Have your traffic citation number ready when calling.
  • Pay By mail, using a personal or cashier's check, or money order. Mail payments to:

    P.O. Box 3079
    Sarasota, Florida 34230-3079

All credit/debit card transactions are subject to a convenience fee assessed by a third-party payment processor. Credit card payments also require a billing zip code.

I can't pay my traffic ticket. How do I get a payment plan?

To establish a payment plan with the Clerk’s Office, please do one of the following. Note that additional fees apply when you establish a payment plan.

  • Visit the Clerk and Comptroller’s Office in Sarasota or Venice to complete paperwork

What happens if I'm not able to make a scheduled payment?

If you are unable to make a payment as scheduled, please get in touch with our office in person or by phone as soon as possible to discuss options that will help you stay on track.

If your case has been referred to a collection agency contact the agency directly for their accepted forms of payment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • Cash (in person only)
  • Personal check, money order, or cashier's check (payable to the Sarasota County Clerk of Courts)
  • MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express (a surcharge will apply)

Why was my case transferred to a collection agency?

If your account is not paid in full within 90 days, or if a scheduled payment is 90 days past due, the account is turned over to a collection agency.

A collection agency fee will be added to your balance. Please get in touch with the collection agency to determine the total amount owed.

Once your account is turned over to a collection agency, all payments must be made directly to that agency. Collection agencies will likely communicate via mail, text messaging, and/or phone calls.
