The Public Access Department provides citizens access to many of the records held by the Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller for Sarasota County. Official Records from the year 1921 to present are available on microfilm and electronically. Pursuant to Supreme Court of Florida Administrative Order 18-16 Standards for Access to Electronic Court Documents and Security Matrix, the general public is now permitted to view many court records online. The full version of the Administrative Order is available on the Supreme Court of Florida website. Inactive records may need to be obtained from storage for review; you may call ahead to request a court record for review. For your convenience, Public Access fills copy requests for customers unable to visit business offices.
