Deadline to File Value Adjustment Board Petition is September 11, 2018
Save Time by filing your VAB Petition online.
Taxpayers interested in appealing their proposed property tax bill have until September 11 to file a petition for consideration by the Value Adjustment Board (VAB).
As Clerk to the VAB, we offer taxpayers the convenience of filing a petition online, using the Clerk and Comptroller's VAB Online Petition Fling service, in paper, or in person at our Board Records office location.
To use the VAB Online Petition Filing service, you will need your Truth in Millage (TRIM) notice from the Sarasota County Property Appraiser, your contact information, and to pay the $15.00 filing fee (by credit or debit card).
Petitions filed after the September 11 deadline will only be considered if good cause is shown for the late filing.
Taxpayers who file a petition should be aware that partial payment of property taxes is required -- by state law -- to be paid by April 1, 2019, in order to avoid denial of your petition. For information on making a partial tax payment or the delinquency date, please review your tax bill (in November), contact the Sarasota County Tax Collector, or read about your tax payment requirements.
