Value Adjustment Board Seeks Special Magistrates
The Value Adjustment Board of Sarasota County (VAB) is accepting applications for Special Magistrates.
The Board consists of two members of the Board of County Commissioners, one member of the County School Board, and two Citizen Members. The VAB appoints Special Magistrates to conduct hearings on petitions filed, take testimony and make recommendations.
Applicants must have at least five years’ experience in the specific area they are applying for, as well as have certified State of Florida Department of Revenue training.
Magistrates are sought in the following categories:
- Issues relating to exemptions, classifications and determinations that a change of ownership under s. 193.155(3); a change of ownership or control under s. 193.1554(5) or s. 193.1555(5); or a qualifying improvement has occurred under s. 193.1555(5), and shall be a member of the Florida Bar;
- Issues related to the valuation of real estate and shall be a state certified real estate appraiser;
- Issues related to the valuation of tangible personal property and shall be a designated member of a nationally recognized appraisers’ organization.
