Clerk and Comptroller Supports National Sunshine Week, March 11-17, 2018

In recognition of the 2018 National Sunshine Week, the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller would like to remind citizens that e-products and services are available year-round for accessing public information online, on demand, or in person.


The Clerk and Comptroller offers a one-stop online resource for public record searches and viewing, 24/7. Public records searches offer electronic records of marriage license, official records, land records, and more.

Court Records are available for viewing, 24/7, on demand, through a secure web-based application called ClerkNet. Confidentiality standards are established by the Florida Supreme Court, who determines the user’s level of access.

Meetings on Demand: A video and document archive of Sarasota County Commission, Value Adjustment Board (VAB), Charter Review Board, and other meetings is available 24/7. Research and watch at your convenience, on demand. Agendas and supporting documentation are also available.

Financial Reports Online: View financial reports, performance measures, and other reports outlining Sarasota County financial activity, including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), the Consolidated Major Revenue and Debt Report, the IMPACT (or Popular) Annual Financial Report for Sarasota County, and more.

Office of Inspector General Audits and Investigations Online: View county performance or financial audit and investigative reports online, sorted by year and topic.

In person:

Public Access offices offer computer stations at both the Venice Full-Service Branch, located at the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center, 4000 South Tamiami Trail in Venice, FL, and the Main Office at the Historic Courthouse, 2000 Main Street, in downtown Sarasota, FL.

Citizens are free to search databases of public records, online foreclosure sale applications, and partner websites such as the County Property Appraiser or the 12th Judicial Circuit Court. Additional records are also available on microfiche and microfilm.

The Public Access Department provides citizens access to many of the records held by the Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller for Sarasota County. What is Sunshine Week? Launched in 2005 by the American Society of Newspaper Editors, Sunshine Week is a nationwide effort focused on the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants include hundreds of print, broadcast and online news media, civic groups, libraries, nonprofits, schools and others interested in the public's right to know.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller's office publishes alerts, articles, and e-mail notifications covering topics of importance to our customers.  Clerk's Corner, a monthly column for the legal community, is published in The Docket , the official newspaper of the Sarasota County Bar Association, while other business and community outreach topics are shared through state, regional and local media, and public events.
