December 1, 2017
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presents Clerk and Comptroller Karen E. Rushing with three awards for FY2016 financial publications
2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Sarasota County Clerk and Comptroller is proud to receive GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2016 edition of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Known as the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, achieving this recognition is a significant accomplishment by a government entity, and its management.
GFOA also presented the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) to Karen E. Rushing, Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer, for being instrumental in achieving the CAFR award. This recognition represents the highest award in government financial reporting.
The Sarasota CAFR was judged as meeting the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" that clearly communicates Sarasota’s financial story.
2016 IMPACT Report receives Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting
The Clerk and Comptroller also received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for FY2016 from the GFOA’s PAFR Program. The 2016 IMPACT Report — a full-color resource book packed with useful information and beautiful photos of Sarasota County — provides citizens with a look at county revenues, and how the dollars were managed and spent during the fiscal year.
Compiled from the award-winning CAFR, the county budget and other financial reports, this is Sarasota’s fourth IMPACT Report, and its fourth recognition for outstanding achievement.
These award-winning books and other reports can be found in public locations throughout Sarasota County, including government offices, libraries, Chambers of Commerce offices, and on SarasotaClerk.com.
